Ordering through PartsTech with NAPA can be quick and easy to set up if you have ordered online from NAPA before. If you have not ordered online from your local NAPA store previously, Read on for how to get set up with online ordering. If at any point you’re having trouble with this process don’t hesitate to contact one of our customer service representatives. You can request help by filling out the form on the bottom of this page.
Step 1: Gather your NAPA account information
To set up NAPA on PartsTech, you’ll need your “TAMS Password.” Your TAMS Password allows NAPA’s system to identify your shop, and display your wholesale pricing. If you’ve ordered online from your local NAPA store before, chances are you already have a TAMS Password associated with your account. If you have never ordered online from NAPA before your NAPA store will have to create one.
Situation A: I’ve never ordered online from NAPA before
If you’ve never ordered online from your local NAPA store, or if you’re having trouble finding your TAMS password, your best bet is to call your local NAPA store directly. If you don’t have your store’s phone number, click here to use NAPA’s store locator.
When you call the store, you’ll need to talk to the store manager, owner or someone who has knowledge of their “TAMS” system. Tell the store manager that you are trying to order online via PartsTech and you will need your “TAMS Password”.
If you have never ordered online from your local NAPA store, your store manager will configure your wholesale account for online ordering. This will assign a TAMS Password to your account. The store manager can find the TAMS Password in their TAMS system “Phone File.”
Situation B: I have ordered online from NAPA before
If you have ordered online from your local NAPA store, follow the instructions below.
Situation C: I have ordered online before and i know my TAMS Password
(it’s usually 6 digits and starts with a D), that’s great! You can skip to Step 3 below.
How to turn your account number into a TAMS Password (if you have ordered online from NAPA previously)
If you don’t know your TAMS Password, in many cases you can use your NAPA account number (also known as your A/R or account receivable number) to derive your TAMS password. Here’s how:
First, find a recent invoice from your local NAPA store and locate your account number. The images below highlight where you can find your number. Once you find your NAPA account number, move on to Step 2.
Step 2: Convert your customer number to your TAMS password
Once you have your account number, follow these steps to derive your TAMS Password from your customer number:
Your TAMS password is usually a 6-character combination of the letter “D”, a series of zeros and your NAPA account number.
In the majority of cases, you can derive their TAMS password using the process pictured below.
For example, if your account number is “123”, start with the letter “D,” put your account number in the last spaces, and add two zeros in the middle so you end up with six (6) total characters. Your TAMS Password is D00123.
If you have a 5 digit account number (e.g. “12345”), start with the letter “D” plus your account number. Your TAMS Password is D12345. Note: in this example, you do not add zeros because your combination is already six characters.
Step 3: Add NAPA to your Suppliers List
Click here to see your current suppliers. You may have to log in if you’re not already logged in. Click on “Add New Supplier”
Step 4: Use the search bar to search by name or use the map to find your servicing location. Click the “+” icon to add your NAPA store.
Step 5: Enter your TAMS Password on PartsTech
Select “I know my account info.” Enter your TAMS Password in the space provided. Check to be sure you have the correct store location selected. Then click “Save.”
Step 6: Complete the set up or registration process and then check your account status.
You’re almost done! If you are in the process of setting up a new account on PartsTech for the first time, please be sure to complete the registration process and confirm your email address. Also, don’t forget to set up your other preferred parts suppliers on PartsTech.
Next time you run a search on PartsTech, you should see results from your local NAPA store. If you don’t see any results, it is likely that your NAPA account needs additional configuration. You can check the status of your NAPA account by logging in to PartsTech and checking your Supplier settings (pictured below). Look for the green “Account Verified” message. That means your NAPA account on PartsTech is set up and ready to go. If you don’t see the “Account Verified” icon it means that NAPA’s system did not recognize your TAMS Password, or you may have selected the wrong store. Double check the info you submitted and try again. If you’re still experiencing issues please contact one of our customer service reps (fill out the form below) and we’ll help resolve the issue.
